The research unit's main objective is the study of the Italian paremiological heritage considered diatopically, so with a particular focus on dialectal and regional heritage, but it is open to comparison with other languages, first of all with Romance languages.
This unit aims to continue research begun at the Accademia della Crusca with the establishment of the database "Proverbi italiani," and the Atlante Paremiologico Italiano project (thanks to the inclusion of Temistocle Franceschi). It intends to promote research projects for the study of proverbs and phraseology, with the further aim of developing IT tools for linguistics within the scope of the Department’s of Humanities IT laboratory.
